Seattle: the city of Amazon and Boeing

Located on the west coast of the United States, Seattle is a cosmopolitan and forward-looking city. Home to famous top internet companies such as Amazon and aviation such as Boeing.

The city that was founded in the mid-19th century is named after an Indian tribal chief, whose statue is visible in the city center. From a small center of woodcutters it developed enormously with the discovery of gold in Alsaka. Seattle is located along the coast in an area of hills along Puget Sound and Lake Washington. The city is an important port for trade with the Far East and Alaska.

A SKYLINE ON WHICH THE SPACE NEEDLE DOMINATES

The center of the city is like most American cities made up of tall skyscrapers. Among the buildings that characterize the Seattle skyline, the most famous is the Space Needle. A skyscraper on which you can climb, through fast elevators, to admire the city from its 184 meters high. Located far from the city center. The city has dozens of parks and public gardens. Very beautiful are Woodland Park, for its rose gardens, and Volunteer Park, with greenhouses and flowered areas. For those who love plants, the Arboretum of the University of Washington with a Japanese tea garden is especially worth visiting.

Less than two hours from Seattle are some spectacular national parks. Mount Rainier National Park is a huge ancient extinct volcano. Olympic National Park is located along the coast and preserves the lush forests along the slopes of Mount Olympic. North Cascades National Park is made up of mountains, glaciers and valleys and is full of hiking trails.

About an hour’s drive from the city there are some ski resorts, the most important of which is Cristal Mountain. The beautiful Canadian city of Vancouver is approximately two hours’ drive from Seattle.

HOW TO GET

Seattle is served by the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) connected by flights with the main cities of North America and the Far East. The airport is located about 20 km from the city center.
