Brazil climate: when to go to Brazil

The climate in Brazil is characterized by 6 major climatic regions: the equatorial, the tropical, the tropical high lands, the semi-arid, the temperate and the sub-tropical.

Amazon: The Amazon region has a warm humid climate, and is one of the most rainy area of the world, the rains are concentrated in the months between December and May. Even at other times of the year it rains frequently, but the rains are shorter and less intense. The average annual precipitation is between 2,000 and 3,000 mm. Average annual rainfall in Manaus is 2,300 mm, the maximum average temperatures vary between 33°C and 30°C, the average minimum temperatures are stable at around 23°C.

Pantanal: The area of the Pantanal is another wetland of the country, with heavy rains between October and March, and a dry season from April to September.

Highlands: The Brazilian high lands are located in sub-tropical climate area, the more southern areas have temperate climate, and in winter sometimes makes its appearance snow. The cool season is from May to September. Between October and April is hot and humid with rain particularly between November and February. The areas of Brazilians central highlands receive most rainfall during the months between November and April, often in the form of torrential rains. In winter, between May and October the highlands are dry.

The climate of the Brazilian capital, Brasilia, is typical of tropical savanna, with a dry season between May and September and a warm and humid season in the months between October and March. Temperatures undergo few changes during the different seasons, in fact the average maximum temperature varies between 28.3°C in September and 25.1°C in July, while higher are the difference in average minimum temperatures ranging between 12.9°C in July and 17.5°C in December.

Rio de Janeiro: In the region of Rio de Janeiro, the rainy season corresponds to the months between December and April, this period has high humidity and maximum average temperatures around 28°C. The average annual rainfall is 1130 mm. In winter (June to September) the maximum average temperatures are around 23°C. The average minimum varies between 23°C in February to 18°C in July.

Sao Paulo: The climate of Sao Paulo is mild throughout the year, with average maximum temperatures ranging between 27°C in February and 22°C in July and average minimum ranging between 21°C in February and 12°C in July. The most rainy period are summer months between October and March, the average annual rainfall is 1,350 mm.

Northeast: The Northeast of Brazil, between Bahia and Maranhao, is the most dry region of the country, the rainy season is concentrated in the months between January and July, average temperatures are around 31°C, but sometimes the maximum exceed 38°C. The average annual rainfall for Salvador is 2100 mm, but in the interor of the region, precipitation decreased drastically.

Fernando de Noronha: The climate of Fernando de Noronha is tropical, with two well-defined seasons, the rainy season from January to August and dry season for the rest of the year. The rainy period is between March and July, while the month of October is the driest months. Average temperatures are around 25°C, the warmest months are those between January and March. South: The extreme south of Brazil (the states of Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Parana and Sao Paulo) presents temperatures ranging between 13°C and 18°C between June and August, while the summers are warm with temperatures exceeding 30°C. The rain fall throughout the year, but are more intense in the months between June and September.

WHEN TO GO TO BRAZIL

The best time to visit most of Brazil is the winter, namely the months ranging from June to September.
