The climate of Chapada Diamantina: when to go

Chapada Diamantina is a species of green island within the semi-arid territory of the sertão. Thanks to the altitude, the Chapada has a green and water-rich territory. Chapada Diamantina has a tropical climate with fairly stable temperatures in every season and moderate in altitude.

In Chapada Diamantina two climatic seasons can be highlighted, mainly based on the amount of rainfall that falls. The hottest and wettest season occurs in the months between November and April, when there are average maximum temperatures of 30 ° C and average minimum temperatures of 20 ° C. Precipitation reaches a maximum of about 170 mm in December, but in each month of the period considered, it exceeds 150 mm per month.

The dry and cool period corresponds to the months between May and October, when the rains decrease drastically until reaching the minimum in August with only 40 mm. The temperatures in this period vary between the 26 ° C of the maximum averages and the 17 ° C of the minimum averages. The annual average rainfall in the town of Lençóis is just over 1,300 mm.
