This post is also available in: Deutsch

The climate of Sergipe is tropical hot and humid along the coast of the Atlantic Ocean, while inland it becomes drier, becoming a semi-arid climate in the driest part of the Sertão. Temperatures are quite high and vary little in the various seasons.

The main rains occur along the coast where the rainy season starts in March and ends in August, the rainiest months are between April and July, the dry season occurs between October and February. The amount of rain that falls along the coast is around 1,600 mm per year. The average maximum temperatures vary between 30 ° C in the summer months and 27 ° C in the winter months. The average minimum temperatures vary between 24 ° C in the summer months and 22 ° C in the winter months.

Inland the rains decrease, a few tens of kilometers from the coast there are on average about 1,000 mm of rain per year, while even further west they decrease to about 700 mm per year. In these regions the rainy season is reduced to the months between March and July and the dry season is more marked. The average maximum temperatures are slightly higher than those along the coast, while the average minimum temperatures are slightly lower.

The sea water temperature varies between 28 ° C in the summer months and 25 ° C in August.
