The climate of Espirito Santo: when to go to Espirito Santo

The Brazilian state of Espirito Santo has a tropical climate which, due to the different altitudes, varies between the tropical altitude climate that characterizes the area of the highlands, and the classic tropical climate that characterizes the flat area along the coast.

The differences between these two types of climates are mainly due to the temperatures, which decrease with increasing height, as regards the rains in the internal regions, the dry season is more marked. On average, locations in the state receive between 1,100 mm and 1,400 mm of rain per year.

Inland the rainy season begins in October and ends in March, the least rainy months are those between June and August. Along the coast, the rainy season occurs between October and April, and August is the least rainy month.

The temperatures along the coast are high, the average maximum ones vary between 32 ° C and 26 ° C, while the average minimum ones vary between 17 ° C and 23 ° C. Inland temperatures decrease with height, in these regions there are average minimum temperatures which are almost 10 ° C less than those along the coast.

The sea water temperature varies between 27 ° C in February and March and 23 ° C in the months between July and September.

The best time to visit the places in the state of Espirito Santo are the driest and coolest months between May and September.
