The island of Phuket has become one of Thailand’s most important tourist destinations in recent decades. At the top of Phuket tourist attractions are its beaches, its tropical climate, and its rich and intense nightlife.

The main tourist center of the island of Phuket is Patong Beach. This seaside resort is located on the Andaman Sea, in the center of the west coast along a strip of white sand. Here you will find large hotels, shopping centers, shops. Most of the nightlife on the island of Phuket is also concentrated here in the areas of Bangla Road and Paradise Complex.

TOURIST ATTRACTIONS: THE COASTS AND BEACHES

The coasts of the island are jagged, with many bays and full of beaches. The most beautiful beaches are located along the west coast, the one that overlooks the Andaman sea. While the beaches on the east coast are not very beautiful, there are numerous islands along this coast.

Among the most beautiful and popular beaches north of Patong we can mention Kamala Beach, Surin Beach and Bang Tao Beach. While south of Patong are Karon Beach, Kata Beach, Kata Noi Beach. Finally on the southern tip of the island are the beaches of Nai Harn Beach and Rawai, and in front of this the islet of Ko Bom.

Sirinat National Park protects a part of the northwest coast of the island. In this protected area there is also the beach of Nai Yang Beach where the sea turtles lay their eggs.

To the northwest of Phuket are the Similan Islands. This idyllic archipelago has become a national park and is a paradise for diving enthusiasts. The famous islands of Phi Phi are located 50 km southeast of Phuket.
