The month of February is the shortest month of the year, but even in this month the traveler can be spoiled by a choice of countries and places to visit. Among the nations to visit in February are India, Burma and Thailand. February is still a good time for visiting Indochina (Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam).

In this month the nations of Central America have the driest period of the year. February is a great month to visit Mexico and the whole Caribbean area: You can easily choose one of the many beaches of Cuba, Mexico, of the Dominican Republic, of Jamaica, of the Bahamas and the islands of the Lesser Antilles. If you want to visit Baja California/Mexico, you will have the opportunity to spot the whales in the Sea of Cortez.

From the climatic point of view February is one of the best months to visit the Maldives and the south-west coast of the island of Ceylon/Sri Lanka. In this period the archipelago of the Philippines is in the middle of the dry season and therefore in the best period for a trip. The whole Persian Gulf area is ideal in this month. Temperatures are mild and there is no excessive heat that characterizes the summer months. Even the Saharan desert areas have a less torrid climate during the winter.

February is a summer month in New Zealand, in the south of Australia and in Tasmania. It is a great month to visit Australian cities like Sydney and Melbourne. In the Andean highlands it is possible to admire the flooded Salar de Uyuni.

In this month winter sports lovers can find their paradise in the Alps choosing between France, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria, Italy and Slovenia. In February in these mountains the snow abounds, making the mountain landscapes of this part of Europe enchanting. Other spectacular destinations for winter sports are the Rocky Mountains of Canada (Banff) and Colorado (Aspen).
