PERU: DOCUMENTS

Documents: To enter Peru, it is necessary to have a passport with a residual validity of at least 6 months when entering the country. Even children and minors must have their own personal passport.

Entry visa: Usually no visa is required for tourist stays not exceeding 90 days of stay in the country. Only citizens of certain particular countries require a visa.

PERU: HEALTH INSURANCE, TRAVEL INSURANCE, AND MEDICAL ASSISTANCE

Healthcare: Public hospitals have rather poor service standards. Private hospitals, on the other hand, are of a good standard. Health and travel insurance is highly recommended. Travel insurance has negligible costs, generally between 50 and 100 Euros per person, and allow you to cover your medical expenses during your stay in Peru.

Vaccinations: No vaccinations are mandatory. Among the recommended vaccinations are those for hepatitis type A and B, and for those who go to the Amazon area, vaccination against Yellow Fever is also recommended.

PERU: MOBILE PHONES AND INTERNET

Telephones: The international telephone code for Peru is 0051.

Mobile Phones: The technologies used in the Peru network are D-AMPS, CdmaOne, CDMA2000 1x, CDMA2000, EV-DO, GSM, GPRS, EDGE.

Mobile operators: Movistar, Claro, Nextel.

Internet: Internet cafes are found in the main cities of the country.

PERU: POWER PLUGS AND ELECTRIC SOCKETS

Electricity: The electric current in Peru is 220 Volts, 60 Hz.

Electrical sockets: The power plugs and sockets used in Peru are those of type A, B and C. The power plugs and sockets A and B are the same as those used in the United States of America, that is, they are lamella plugs. The socket C, on the other hand, is like the sockets used in Europe with two round pins.

PERU: CURRENCY AND BANKS

Currency: The monetary unit of Peru is the Nuevo Sol (PEN), subdivided 100 céntimos. Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Diners Club credit cards are accepted only in the best hotels, restaurants and commercial facilities.

Banks: Bank opening hours are as follows: from January to March from Monday to Friday 9.00 to 13.00, while from April to December from Monday to Friday from 9.00 to 17.00.
