Mexico climate: when to go to Mexico

Mexico has a climate that varies greatly depending on the altitude of the different areas of the country, the  Mexican climate is indeed divided, depending on the height, into four climatic zones: the tierras calientes, the tierras templadas, the tierras frias and the tierras heladas.

As for the large extent of the country from north to south, the climate changes from the desert climate of the north to the tropical – equatorial climate of the south. The Tropic of Cancer divides climatically Mexico, south of the Tropic are areas prone to tropical climate, while to the north are areas subject to a temperate climate.

Returning to the climatic division for height, the so-called tierras calientes are those areas of Mexico that are found at altitudes below 600 meters, in general, are areas with a tropical climate, high humidity with constant temperatures around 25 ° C and relatively high rainfall, with average annual precipitation values sometimes exceeding 1,500 mm, the areas in this climate are the Yucatan Peninsula and the plains of Chiapas and the Isthmus of Tehuantepec.
