Free tours for transit passengers at Seoul-Incheon airport

This post is also available in: Deutsch

Are you in transit at Seoul-Incheon airport in South Korea? Do you have a few hours of time between your flights? Why not take advantage of a free service that the airport makes available to its passengers? In fact, you should know that the efficient and ultra-modern Seoul-Incheon airport offers to its passengers in transit a series of free tours of varying duration.

WHAT ARE THE FREE TOURS AVAILABLE?

There are various possibilities based on the time you have available, you can choose between free tours of 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 hours. If you have 5 hours of time there is the possibility to visit the city of Seoul through four different tours. These itineraries will take you to Gyeongbok palace and Insadong street (tour 1). Or at the Bukchon HanokVillage and Gwangjang market (tour 2). Or at Changdeok Palace and Samcheong dong (tour 3). And finally to Myeongdong and Namsan Seoul Tower (tour 4).

If instead you have less time available you can opt for the 4-hour tour, what we did, which will allow you to visit the Songdo Central Park, the Ocean Scope and the Singi Market. The 3-hour tour takes you to Gwangmyeong Cave. While the 2-hour tour takes you to visit Heungryunsa Temple, the Incheon Grand Bridge and the Memorial Hall for Incheon Landing Operation. The shortest tour is the one-hour tour that allows you to visit the Yonggungsa Temple.

Finally if you have just over an hour you can take the cultural tour inside the airport (Incheon Airport Culture Tour) which will allow you to visit the Culture Street, the Security Screening, the Traditional Craft Gallery, the Walk of the Royal Family, the Traditional Korean Culture Center and to finish with a nice Classical Music Concert.

THERE ARE FEW PLACES AVAILABLE, SO BOOK WELL IN ADVANCE

There are not many places available for free tours so we recommend booking well in advance (we booked a few months earlier). To book your free tour, the procedure is simple, you need to visit the official page of the airport transit tours and choose the tour you prefer. After making your reservation you will receive an email which you must print and present at the free transit tour desk of the airport.

Once at the airport you have to go through customs for passport control (2F), then go downstairs 1F exiting gates C or D, and then go to the free tour desk (Transit tour desk) which is located between exits 8 and 9 of terminal 1F. Once you arrive at the counter, wait for your turn and show your reservation (go to the counter at least 30 minutes before the start of the tour). You will be given a pin with written “Free Korean Transit tour” and your guide will be introduced to you. Tours are conducted in English, Chinese and Japanese. You are ready for your free tour!
