Tanzania is located just south of the equator, but the equatorial climate affects only small areas at the northern end of the country. Most of Tanzania is mainly affected by a tropical climate with two seasons clearly differentiated according to the monsoon rains.

In the highlands of the interior, temperatures are several degrees lower.
