The city of Asunción is located in a flat area along the banks of the Paraguay River just 43 meters above sea level. The city of Asunción is known as one of the hottest capitals of South America: during the hot season – between November and March – the maximum temperatures at times may reach values higher than 35 ° C and 40 ° C. The average annual temperature is 23.3 ° C. The average maximum temperatures reach between November and March values higher than 30 ° C, reaching a peak of 33.5 ° C in January. The best season to visit Asunción is the dry and mild season which corresponds to the winter in the southern hemisphere, namely the months between May and September. Should be avoided, instead, the very hot and humid months of the rainy season.
