Verona, a beautiful city located along the Adige river, a short distance from Lake Garda. Thanks to its fortunate position along important commercial communication routes, the city was very important since the Roman Empire period, as evidenced by the many valuable buildings of that era that still survive after two thousand years, such as the Arena (the ancient amphitheater), the Gavi Arch, the Pietra bridge, the Roman theater, and the gates of the Lions and the Borsari.

But Verona also had great development during the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, during the government of the Scaligeri, between the XIII and XIV centuries, and of Venice, between the XV and XVIII centuries, when the palaces and squares that today were built characterize it as the Piazza delle Erbe and the Piazza dei Signori, places of great beauty. The city of Verona is one of the places declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

VERONA CHRISTMAS MARKET

The Verona market takes place in the central Piazza Dante (Piazza dei Signori), with the monument to the great Florentine poet in the center of the square, overlooked by the Palazzo del Comune or Palazzo della Ragione built in the 12th century, the Palazzo del Capitanio from the 14th century, the 16th century Palazzo della Prefettura, the 15th century Loggia del Consiglio, the 14th century Palazzo di Cansignorio and the 13th century Domus Nova.

In this beautiful scenery made up of ancient buildings there are over 60 stalls of the Christmas Market, which recreates the atmosphere of the typical markets of Germany, in fact the exhibitors all come from Germany and offer typical German handicraft products such as felt slippers , candles, worked minerals, Christmas decorations and ceramics, wooden toys, wool sweaters, and hats; as well as many German gastronomic specialties such as the famous Nuremberg sausages with sauerkraut, beer, gingerbread biscuits, German bread, mulled wine, waffles and strudels, traditional Christmas sweets made with honey, dried fruit and spices.
