VENEZUELA: DOCUMENTS

Documents: A passport with a residual validity of at least six months from the date of arrival in the country is required for entry into Venezuela. Even children and minors must have their own personal passport.

Entry visa: not required for tourism, as long as the stay in the country does not exceed 90 days. A visa may be required for citizens of some countries.

VENEZUELA: HEALTH INSURANCE, TRAVEL INSURANCE, AND MEDICAL ASSISTANCE

Healthcare: Venezuela’s public hospitals have poor services. By contrast, the levels of private healthcare facilities are good. Health insurance is essential. Travel insurance has negligible costs and allows you to cover your medical expenses during your stay in Venezuela. Taking out such insurance is always a good rule of thumb before embarking on a trip abroad. This is even more so in countries where public health is not too efficient and where you could resort to private health services.

Vaccinations: No vaccinations are required for entry into the country.

Telephones: The international dialing code for Venezuela is 0058.

Mobile Phones: The mobile telephony technologies used in the Venezuelan network are those: D-AMPS, CdmaOne, CDMA2000 1x, CDMA2000 EV-DO GSM, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA.

Venezuela mobile operators: Movilnet, Movistar, Digitel GSM.

Internet: Internet cafes are found in the main cities of the country.

VENEZUELA: POWER PLUGS AND ELECTRIC SOCKETS

Electricity: The electric current in Venezuela is 120 Volts 60 Hz.

Electrical outlets: The power plugs and sockets used in Venezuela are type A and B. These are American flat sided electrical outlets with and without earth. For European appliances a standard lamella type adapter is required.

VENEZUELA: CURRENCY AND BANKS

Currency: The monetary unit is the Bolívar Fuerte (VEF), divided into 100 centimos.

Banks: The opening hours of bank branches in the country are as follows: from Monday to Friday 8.30-11.30 and 14.00-16.30.
